The 1st GEORG Geothermal Workshop was successfully held at the Grand Hotel Reykjavík between the 24- 25 November 2016. Over 200 delegates from various countries were present to share and experience the latest developments, findings and opportunities in geothermal research in Iceland and elsewhere. Arna Pálsdóttir Ph.D student in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University gave a presentation on behalf of Gerosion regarding Extraction of Minerals and Metals at the Geothermal Workshop. The work presented in the presentation was part of the W2V project: Value Creation in Icelandic Geothermal Processes: Extraction of Minerals and Metals, which Gerosion leads in cooperation with Landsvirkjun, HS Orka, Orka Náttúrunnar, Innovation Center Iceland and the University of Iceland. At the same workshop a poster was presented on work, regarding the same W2V project, which covered the utilization of geothermal and waste silica (conducted in cooperation with CalTech University, Innovation Center Iceland and University of Iceland).
